Founded in 1803, the Société Anatomique de Paris became the Société Française d'Anatomie Normale et Pathologique in 1986.The two sections constituting it separate and the association takes the name of Société Française de Pathologie or SFP by decree of October 16, 2023 (website).

SFP brings together pathologists of all types. It is governed as an association under the law of 1901, recognized as being of public utility.

SFP's vocation is the study, promotion and teaching of pathology and cytology. The mission of our national medical specialty society is to promote all aspects of pathological anatomy and cytology:

  • continuing education for pathologists,
  • information and assistance in the development of medical research in pathology,
  • relations with pathology societies in other countries, particularly in Europe.

Members are French-speaking pathologists working in private practice, hospitals or university hospitals, in France and abroad. The directory of members is available in the Registration menu. SFP has 989 members.

SFP has an executive committee comprising a President, a general secretary, a treasurer and a secretary. The board of directors is made up of 14 elected members, half of whom are eligible for re-election every two years.
